13,396 people rescued from Bhotekoshi flood-hit areas: NDRRMA
KATHMANDU: A total of 13,396 people have been rescued during search and rescue operations in areas affected by the Bhotekoshi flood, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
NDRRMA spokesperson Shanti Mahat said 3,533 of those rescued were staying at 39 holding centres in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts.
A total of 1,357 bodies have been recovered, of which 98 have been identified and handed over to their families. Another 5,326 people remain missing.
Of those missing, 2,860 are from Rasuwa and 1,981 from Nuwakot. The remaining missing people include Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, Nepal (APF Nepal) personnel, government employees and residents of other districts, Mahat said.
More than 6,827 injured and flood-affected people have received primary healthcare. Of the 327 people treated at 10 hospitals, 242 have been discharged.
The Nepali Army has provided medical services to 3,404 people, while APF Nepal has treated 3,096.
Personnel from Nepal Police, the Nepali Army and APF Nepal, along with local governments and government and non-governmental organisations, are engaged in search and rescue operations, medical care and relief management.
The NDRRMA said operations to find missing people and rescue those affected had been intensified. Relief and rehabilitation work is also under way in flood-hit areas through coordinated efforts.
