KATHMANDU: Gaurabta Nepal, an initiative dedicated to showcasing Nepal's art, culture, language, traditions, cuisine, ethnic diversity, religions, attire, natural beauty, geographical variety, and tourism destinations on the global stage, was formally launched in the historic city of Kirtipur on Sunday.

Speaking at the launch event in Kirtipur, founder Phiroj Singh welcomed attendees and emphasised that the global identity of Nepal is firmly rooted in its heritage. "Because Nepal is rich in heritage, our identity in the world is invaluable. If we can promote this identity properly to the world, there is no reason why it should be difficult for us to prosper," he said.

Singh expressed his joy at launching the organisation alongside a musical performance by Nepathya, a celebrated Nepali folk-rock band renowned for advancing the country's culture and identity through their artistic journey. He extended his gratitude to the audience, guests, supporters, and the band for their participation.

He noted that the initiative is intended to contribute to the broader development of Nepal by encouraging citizens to recognise the value of their heritage and to carry that sense of pride into their efforts to build a more prosperous future. The organisers expressed hope that the launch marks the start of a long-term journey to display the cultural richness of Nepal to the international community, inspiring every Nepali to progress with confidence, dignity, and pride in the heritage of the country.

The project was founded by Singh, a Kirtipur native who envisions making his birthplace the centre of his professional and creative endeavours. Singh, who has also influenced the Nepali music scene, began his hospitality career in 2010 with SASA: D' Newa Restaurant in Kirtipur, introducing Newari culture and cuisine to a broader audience.

Despite facing severe challenges, including the devastating 2015 earthquake, the economic blockade, and the Covid19 pandemic, Singh drew inspiration from the rich cultural and natural heritage of Nepal. These hardships cemented his belief that the nation holds immense wealth in its heritage and identity, and that no obstacle should hinder the country's progress if that wealth is properly recognised and promoted.

Driven by this conviction, Singh developed the motto: "We cherish our dignity. We must move ahead". This message formed the foundation of his artistic campaign to showcase Nepal powerfully to the world. The concept materialised further in 2020 through SASA: Twa Hospitality, which focused on promoting Newari heritage internationally. Gaurabta Nepal expands upon this foundation with a wider vision to elevate the cultural identity of Nepal globally, creating a platform to help Nepalis attain greater recognition, dignity, and prosperity.
