GULMI: Traffic resumed along the Kaligandaki Corridor in Gulmi District on Wednesday evening, Birendra Bir Bishwakarma, information officer at the District Police Office, said. The reopening followed the clearance of landslide debris caused by continuous rainfall.
The road had become impassable after mud, sludge and large boulders accumulated at multiple locations. The blockages primarily affected the stretch from Rudrabeni in Satyawati Rural Municipality to the Harmichaur, Arbeni and Purtighat section of the corridor.
The accumulated debris was cleared using bulldozers and excavators in a coordinated effort involving Kaligandaki Rural Municipality and the Road Division Palpa.
The temporary closure had caused considerable difficulties for travellers commuting from the area to Tamghas, Baglung, Palpa, Butwal and Pokhara. With the thoroughfare operational, public transport and private vehicles that had been halted are continuing to their respective destinations.
