KATHMANDU: Global IME Bank has received the 'Best Bank Award 2026' from international publication Global Finance, marking its third consecutive win after securing the same recognition in 2024 and 2025.

In a press statement, the bank said it is the first Nepali bank to receive the award, which Global Finance presents to leading central and commercial banks worldwide.

The award was presented at a ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand, where a representative of Global Finance handed the trophy to the bank’s Deputy Chief Executive Officers, Suman Pokharel and Deep Chandra Regmi.

According to Global Finance, the selection was based on criteria including financial resource mobilisation capacity, institutional credibility, geographical and digital expansion, strategic business partnerships, customer-oriented innovation, the use of advanced technology and artificial intelligence, sustainable credit flow, and risk management practices.

Following the ceremony, the bank expressed gratitude to the Government of Nepal, Nepal Rastra Bank, regulatory bodies, shareholders, employees and customers for their support. It said the recognition would encourage the institution to further improve service standards across its network.

Other institutions recognised at the ceremony included Bank of China (Hong Kong), State Bank of India, ICBC (China), UOB Malaysia, City Bank (Bangladesh) and MUFG Bank (Japan).

The latest recognition adds to a series of domestic and international awards received by the bank, including Bank of the Year 2014, Best Internet Bank 2016 and Best Bank Nepal for 2024, 2025 and 2026.
