KATHMANDU: IME Automotives ESCORTS has organised free heavy equipment and backhoe loader operator training for women.
Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal, also Co-Founder and Chairman of the IME Group, inaugurated the training which started on Thursday.
At a ceremony organised to launch the training, Dhakal said the production of skilled manpower is the highest among the five priorities he has set as the president of FNCCI. He mentioned that if the manpower can be made skilled, the lack of skilled manpower needed in the industry will be fulfilled. The skilled manpower going into foreign employment can also get jobs with high salaries, he said and added he will take special initiatives for skill-based training and the production and development of skilled manpower.
FNCCI President Dhakal opined that if we can provide training to women, it will also make a special contribution to women's empowerment. Through this training, women will acquire skills that will open doors for them to get employment opportunities and this will also change the old social attitudes towards women, he said.
"Usually, we think of men as capable drivers. But with the change of time, women have started proving themselves even as heavy equipment operators,” Dhakal said.
Addressing the women participating in the training, he suggested trying their best to learn skills and become proficient. “The learning of skills will have a great impact on employment as well as on women's empowerment," he said.
The women participating in ‘Women Backhoe Operator Training’ will be provided with all the necessary skills and knowledge to operate backhoe loaders safely and effectively, according to the organiser. As many as 15 women are participating in the training.
