Gold, silver businesspersons demand clear policy guidelines

KATHMANDU: Representatives of Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver dealers' Association (FENEGOSIDA), Federation Of Nepal Gold Silver Gem and Jewellery Associations (FNGSGJA) and Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN) have demanded the government immediately issue unified guidelines related to gold and silver business. Representatives of the three federations met with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel at the latter's office on Wednesday. The joint delegation also warned that if the state does not address the demands of the gold, silver and jewellery businesspersons, they will be compelled to shut down the businesses and take to the streets. They also expressed their displeasure saying that the government agencies have not listened to their request of issuing guidelines for a long time. FENEGOSIDA President Manik Ratna Shakya said that due to the lack of clear policy guidelines related to gold and silver, it is difficult to operate businesses and said the businesspersons have been facing a lack of sufficient raw materials and disruptions in operating businesses. FNGSGJA President Suresh Man Shrestha and FHAN President Prachanda Shakya also informed about the business problems from their respective sides. Minister Paudel assured that he took business problems seriously and would take necessary steps to solve them. He said that he will study the problem raised by the businesspersons and take necessary steps to solve it. READ ALSO:
