FinMin ensures additional Rs 7.5bn to purchase chemical fertilisers

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Finance has ensured an additional source of Rs 7.5 billion for the purchase of chemical fertilisers required in the current fiscal year 2022/23. The Finance Ministry approved the proposal put forward by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD) for the purchase of chemical fertilisers. Of the guaranteed resources, Rs 2.4 billion will be arranged from the budget allocated for the MoALD, while Rs 2.5 billion will be included in the ceiling of the next fiscal year 22023/24 while Rs 2.6 billion will be disbursed after the liability. A total of Rs 15 billion was allocated for the current fiscal year to purchase chemical fertilisers. Moreover, the Finance Ministry had ensured an additional source of Rs 16 billion for the purchase of chemical fertilisers. Additional resources have been arranged as per the demand of MoALD. Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel held a discussion with Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Jwala Kumari Sah, Agriculture Development Secretary Govinda Prasad Sharma and others regarding facilitating the procurement and supply of chemical fertilisers. During the discussion, Minister Paudel assured that there will be no problem with resources for the purchase of chemical fertilisers and requested to go through the necessary process immediately.
