Nepali delegation visits Melbourne, Australia for Leadership Development Program

MELBOURNE: The opening ceremony of the “7th edition of the Leadership Development Program (LDP)” hosted by BFIN in collaboration with Victoria University and Consulate General of Nepal to Victoria was held today at Victoria University City Tower in Melbourne, Australia. The program, scheduled from April 15th to 19th, 2024, promises to be an enriching experience for its high-level delegation from Nepal's banking sector, who will engage in a series of sessions, discussions, and industry visits to prominent institutions such as NAB, Global Victoria, and the Parliament of Victoria. The delegation consists of the board of directors and senior executives representing Sanima Bank Limited, Laxmi Sunrise Bank Limited, NIC Asia Bank Limited, Nabil Bank Limited, Siddhartha Bank Limited, Nepal Investment Mega Bank Limited, Kamana Bikas Bank Limited, Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Limited, Lumbini Bikas Bank Limited and NIFRA.

The program's objectives, meticulously crafted, aim to equip senior executives with a comprehensive understanding of the Australian financial sector, global economic risks, technological advancements, leadership challenges, and organizational cultural shifts.

The ceremony, graced by esteemed dignitaries, commenced with a traditional Acknowledgment of Country by Chair Dr. Chitra Sriyani De Silva Lokuwaduge, followed by a warm welcome from Dr. Ranjith Ihalanayake, Dean of the Victoria University Business School. Dr. Ligia Pelosi, Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching, along with Professor Emeritus Anona Armstrong and Dr. Romana Garma, further added to the ceremonial ambiance, highlighting the significance of this collaborative endeavor.

Dr. Ihalanayake shed light on the current challenges facing the global landscape, emphasizing the importance of such programs in navigating through crises and fostering resilience. He expressed gratitude for the partnership between Victoria University and BFIN, which facilitated the successful execution of the 7th LDP in Melbourne. Dr. Ligia Pelosi extended a warm welcome to all participants and expressed anticipation for the opportunity to enhance and fortify the relationship between the involved parties.Dr. Armstrong captivated the audience with insights into the diplomatic ties between Nepal and Australia, underscoring the importance of social, cultural, and economic relationships in today's interconnected world.

Over the course of the next five days, delegates, including a high-level delegation from Nepal's banking sector, will engage in a series of sessions, discussions, and industry visits to prominent institutions such as NAB, Global Victoria, and the Parliament of Victoria.

Dr. Binod Atreya, CEO and MD of BFIN and coordinator of the program, expressed his appreciation for the collaborative efforts that brought the LDP to fruition. He extended heartfelt thanks to Victoria University, the Consulate General of Nepal to Victoria, Mr. Chandra Yonzon, and all other stakeholders involved in ensuring the program's success.
