KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel has stated that the relevant ministries are responsible for low capital spending.
During a ministry-level development action committee meeting on Wednesday, Finance Minister Paudel urged the ministries to increase capital spending. "It seems the responsibility for capital spending lies with the Ministry of Finance, but it is merely the ministry that facilitates the guarantee and mobilisation of resources. Therefore, every ministry must take ownership of budget implementation," he emphasised.
He directed employees to act promptly on clearing arrears, facilitating foreign investment, mobilising resources, adopting modern technology, and improving service delivery.
On the occasion, Acting Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Neelam Dhungana Timsina, claimed that the national economy was gradually recovering, supported by positive financial and monetary indicators. Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyaya stressed the importance of making regulatory actions effective. Revenue Secretary Dinesh Kumar Ghimire remarked that internal good governance is the need of the hour.
