BIRATNAGAR: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on both domestic and international investors to consider Nepal as a prime investment destination, stating that the country offers vast potential and a favourable environment for investment.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Koshi Province Investment Summit 2025, organised by the Koshi Province government today, the Prime Minister urged the administrative sector to focus on mobilising internal and external investment. He highlighted Nepal’s suitability for investment in multiple sectors, including religious, cultural and tourism-related industries.
He pledged all necessary government facilitation to establish an investment-friendly system.

The Koshi Province will be connected to a six-lane East-West Highway meeting Asian standards in the future, he said. Emphasising the need to boost production, he stated, we can explore potential in every sector.
The Prime Minister mentioned that road infrastructure, including corridor and transit facilities, has already been developed in the province, ensuring no issues in transportation or marketing of local products.
He also promised upgrades to various airports across the country, including in Biratnagar.
The Koshi Province is rich in cultural and religious heritage and has significant potential for herbal production. The citizens here are educated and hardworking. That is why this province presents strong investment opportunities, he said.
PM Oli also encouraged young people to pursue entrepreneurship.
Additionally, he called for the global branding of the world’s tallest mountain under its Nepali name, Sagarmatha.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government's commitment to respecting labour rights and protecting trade unions, in line with ILO standards. He emphasised the importance of fostering dialogue between employers and workers.
On the occasion, Koshi Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki welcomed the Prime Minister, stating that the summit, organised for the first time in the province, would help build national capital and generate jobs.
According to him, the summit is expected to serve as a platform for mobilising over 100 billion in capital.
He expressed hope that 71 projects across eight sectors would be launched following the summit.
Potential investors are encouraged by the event, he said, adding that the government is working to ensure that investors from Nepal, the international community, the non-resident community and the province itself benefit.
