KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) inaugurated the 10th edition of Nepal International Trade Fair at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu today.

Chief guest at the inauguration ceremony, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, stated that the nation's priority is to supply the domestic market. He said, "Even when we try to compete in international markets, our focus should still be on prioritising 'Made in Nepal' products."
Minister Bhandari affirmed that the government continues to identify appropriate areas for investment in Nepal and urged the private sector to create a competitive environment for trade through branding and marketing to strengthen the country's manufacturing sector. He expressed hopes for the success of the international trade fair in promoting local products both nationally and globally.

Addressing the ceremony, FNCCI Senior Vice President Anjan Shrestha described the fair as an opportunity to enhance national and international manufacturing relationships, providing a platform for Nepali goods to align their value with the international market. He also urged the minister to entrust the responsibility of hosting fairs solely to the private sector and collaborative bodies like FNCCI.
Liu Dianxun, Director-General of the Investment Promotion Agency under China's Ministry of Commerce (CIPA), speaking on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Nepal and China’s formal trade agreement, expressed hopes for a lasting trade relationship between Nepal and China with the continued support of governance bodies in both nations. This marks China’s 8th participation in the Nepal International Trade Fair.

Notable guests at the inauguration ceremony included representatives from the embassies of Bangladesh, Thailand, UAE, USA, Israel and Pakistan.
The Nepal International Trade Fair will run until 12 May 2025.
