BIRGUNJ: Jagdamba Motors, the official distributor of Proton vehicles in Nepal, has opened a new authorised Proton showroom in Birgunj, Madhesh Province, and launched the all-new Proton e.MAS 5.

The opening has increased the total number of authorised Proton outlets in Nepal to 11. Proton plans to open a further showroom in Birtamod, eastern Nepal, before the Dashain festival; once that outlet begins operations, Proton will have 12 authorised locations nationwide.

The e.MAS 5 is Proton’s second electric vehicle introduced in Nepal. The model is designed to make urban travel and daily commuting easier, smarter and more modern. The vehicle recently won the 'Electric Compact Vehicle of the Year 2026' award at the Allianz DSF Vehicle of the Year Awards 2026 in Malaysia.

The e.MAS 5 is equipped with a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and other technological features. It offers a 70-litre front trunk (frunk), a rear luggage space expandable to 375 litres, and 32 storage compartments, providing space for both daily use and long-distance travel.

The showroom opening and e.MAS 5 launch were attended by the acting mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City, Imtiyaz Alam, business partners, media representatives, auto journalists and other guests. Jagdamba Motors said the strong turnout reflected growing interest in electric vehicles and sustainable transport in Birgunj and the surrounding areas.

Jagdamba Motors Senior General Manager Sushil Chhetri said, "We are very excited to launch the Proton e.MAS 5 among customers in Birgunj, the major commercial city of Madhesh Province, as we continue our successful partnership with Proton. We are confident that the e.MAS 5 will become a popular choice among customers in this region because of its combination of modern technology, strong safety, practical features and attractive pricing."

He added, "The regional launch campaign of the e.MAS 5, which started in Bhaktapur, has now reached Birgunj after Dhangadhi. Through our 11 Proton showrooms across Nepal, we are bringing the e.MAS 5 closer to customers and further expanding our campaign to establish world-class electric vehicles in the Nepali market."

"We are very thankful for the strong interest, bookings and trust shown by Nepali customers towards the e.MAS 5 and the Proton brand," he said, "We will continue to focus on customer needs and expectations and remain committed to providing excellent products, services and customer experiences."

The e.MAS 5 is available in two variants, Prime and Premium. To mark the regional launch in Birgunj, Jagdamba Motors announced a special introductory price of Rs 3.299 million for the Prime variant and Rs 3.699 million for the Premium variant.

Interested customers can visit the new official Proton showroom on Birgunj Bypass Road to view the e.MAS 5 and e.MAS 7 and take them for a test drive, and to learn more about the vehicles’ technology, features, design and overall driving experience.

The opening of the Birgunj showroom is another milestone in Jagdamba Motors’ plan to expand Proton’s presence across Nepal and increase access to electric vehicles in regional markets. The company plans to open the Birtamode showroom in the coming days, taking the total number of authorised Proton outlets in Nepal to 12.
