KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) on Monday handed over medicinal supplies to the Nepal Hajj Committee, prioritising the health security of Nepali pilgrims travelling for Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

FNCCI Treasurer Bharat Raj Acharya and FNCCI Executive Committee Member Jamsher Ali Miya handed over the supplies to Hajj Committee Acting President Jabul Miya and Member Secretary Jhanka Nath Dhakal at the FNCCI Secretariat in Teku, Kathmandu, on Monday. The materials included basic medicines, first-aid supplies and other essential health-related items.

Speaking at the handover programme, FNCCI Treasurer Acharya said the Hajj pilgrimage is a sacred religious act and that the federation provided medicinal supplies to ensure the health and safety of the pilgrims. He expressed hope that the assistance would help make their journey easier.

Hajj Committee Acting President Miya expressed gratitude for FNCCI’s support, stating that the aid would significantly benefit the healthcare of the pilgrims. He also noted that the assistance would help instil greater confidence among the participants during their pilgrimage.

Meanwhile, FNCCI Executive Committee Member Jamsher Miya, who is departing for Hajj, was bid farewell by the federation.

Every year, hundreds of Muslim pilgrims from Nepal travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj. Member Secretary Dhakal said 1,171 Nepali pilgrims will participate in this year’s pilgrimage.
