
KATHMANDU: Remittance inflows into the country rose by 13.2% to Rs1,356.61 billion in the first 10 months of current fiscal year 2024/25, compared with 16.9% increase in the same period of the previous year, the latest macroeconomic and financial situation report issued by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Tuesday shows.
Between mid-April and mid-May 2025 (Baisakh 2082), remittance inflows stood at Rs165.30 billion, up from Rs115.99 billion in the same period a year earlier.
In US dollar terms, remittance inflows rose by 10.5% to 9.96 billion over the review period, against a 14.8% increase in the year-earlier period.
Net secondary income (net transfer) reached Rs1,479.08 billion in the review period, compared with Rs1,301.75 billion in the same period of the previous year.
In the review period, 405,610 Nepali workers secured first-time approval for foreign employment and 280,314 obtained approval for re-entry, against 373,307 and 236,398 respectively in the previous year.
