KATHMANDU: Embark UnMath has launched Nepal’s first‐of‐its‐kind Math Museum programme, a groundbreaking initiative that transforms traditional mathematics education by taking the subject out of textbooks and into interactive classroom settings.
Designed to ignite mathematical curiosity, foster student‐led learning, support teachers and reshape conventional educational culture, the programme is an immersive five‐day, eight‐week experience.
It unfolds in three key phases. In the initial phase, ‘EXPLORE!’, the UnMath team scours the school to identify potential locations for museum installations. In the second phase, ‘INSTALLATION!’, the team installs custom‐designed exhibits throughout the school over a two‐day period. The final phase, ‘LET’S SPEAK MATH!’, marks the grand opening of the museum – an exciting, community‐focused event to which parents, students, teachers and the media are invited. Following the launch, the UnMath team will provide support for up to six months to help teachers and students integrate the exhibits into daily learning.

Participating schools are required to nominate 10 enthusiastic students from across grade levels, to allocate suitable indoor or semi‐outdoor spaces for the installations, to assign a dedicated point‐of‐contact teacher and to actively support the planning and coordination of the launch event.
The Math Museum programme promises to transform schools into vibrant, interactive spaces that enhance student learning through hands‐on exploration, build leadership and communication skills, equip teachers with creative teaching tools and reinforce a school’s identity as an innovative, community‐engaged institution.
By creating a permanent, interactive learning space, the programme offers exceptional long‐term value, boosting student engagement and strengthening each school’s academic profile. It provides an opportunity for school leaders, educators and parents to help children fall in love with mathematics, not merely as a subject but as a narrative that they help create.
