
KATHMANDU: Year-on-year consumer price inflation stood at 2.72% in mid-June 2025, compared with 4.17% a year earlier, the latest macro-economic and financial situation report released by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Tuesday shows.
Food and beverage inflation was 0.54%, while non-food and services inflation was 3.94% in the review month. During the same period the previous year, the price indices for these groups had risen by 5.85% and 3.07% respectively.

Within the food and beverage category, the year-on-year price index for ghee and oil rose by 10.06%, for non-alcoholic drinks by 5.13%, for fruit by 3.51% and for pulses and legumes by 2.85%. The vegetable sub-category fell by 7.04%, spices by 3.06% and meat and fish by 2.91%.
Within the non-food and services category, the year-on-year price index for miscellaneous goods and services rose by 9.43%, for clothing and footwear by 6.82%, for education by 5.88%, for furnishings and household equipment by 5.06% and for tobacco products by 4.68%.
In rural areas, the year-on-year price index rose by 2.90%, while in urban areas it increased by 2.66%.
By province, consumer price inflation in the review month was 4.18% in Koshi, 2.52% in Madhesh, 2.29% in Bagmati, 1.75% in Gandaki, 2.39% in Lumbini, 2.54% in Karnali and 3.86% in Sudurpashchim.
In the review month, inflation in the Kathmandu Valley was 2.73%, in the Tarai 2.58%, in the Hill 2.48% and in the Mountain region 4.18%.
Wholesale price inflation (WPI)
The year-on-year wholesale price inflation stood at 1.56% in mid-June 2025, compared with 5.48% a year earlier.
Wholesale price inflation for consumption goods was 5.66%, while it was –0.93% for intermediate goods and 2.99% for capital goods. The wholesale price index for construction materials increased by 0.35% in the review month.
