KATHMANDU: Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has introduced two smartwatches in Nepal, the Redmi Watch 5 Active and the Redmi Watch 5 Lite with GNSS, priced at Rs 4,999 and Rs 7,499, respectively. Both models offer extended battery life, robust construction and comprehensive health- and activity-tracking features.

The Redmi Watch 5 Active features a 2-inch display with enhanced brightness for clear visibility in direct sunlight. Powered by a 470 mAh battery, it delivers up to 18 days of continuous use on a single charge. The device also supports built-in, voice-activated Alexa for reminders, weather updates and smart-home control. Its impact-resistant metal casing is designed to withstand varied weather conditions, while clear calling functionality and more than 140 sports modes cover activities from running and cycling to trekking and mountaineering.

The Redmi Watch 5 Lite with GNSS connects to five satellite networks simultaneously, providing precise positioning and navigation. It sports a 1.96-inch AMOLED display optimised for map visualisation and everyday use, alongside a dual-microphone setup that enhances call clarity in noisy environments. With 5 ATM water resistance and over 150 workout modes, the Watch 5 Lite targets fitness enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers who require reliable tracking and durability.

Nepal’s technology market has experienced significant growth in recent years, driven by rising consumer awareness and the adoption of smart devices. Smartwatches, in particular, have become increasingly popular among tech-savvy Nepalese, with affordable options available for both students and professionals. The Redmi Watch 5 Active and Watch 5 Lite aim to meet demand for practical, feature-rich wearables that prioritise functionality and long battery life.
