
KATHMANDU: The government’s total expenditure stood at Rs 46.31 billion in the first month of fiscal year 2025/26, according to the latest macroeconomic and financial situation report released by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Monday.
Recurrent expenditure accounted for Rs 18.48 billion, capital expenditure for Rs 0.73 billion and financial expenditure for Rs 27.10 billion in one month.

Total revenue mobilisation, including transfers to provincial and local governments, reached Rs 84.47 billion. Tax revenue amounted to Rs 80.67 billion and non-tax revenue to Rs 3.80 billion.
The government’s cash balance across accounts maintained with the NRB stood at Rs 226.64 billion in mid-August, up from Rs 130.73 billion in mid-July.
Provincial governments spent Rs 0.17 billion during the first month, while their total resource mobilisation was Rs 8.42 billion. This comprised Rs 5.64 billion in grants and transfers from the federal government and Rs 2.78 billion in their own revenue and other receipts.
