KATHMANDU: Public transport vehicles have been granted open route permits from today, the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE) said.
FNNTE President Bijay Bahadur Swar informed that open route permits have been issued across the country from today to ensure smooth operation of public transport during the festival period, and that the permits will remain in effect until October 8.
With the open route permits, public transport is able to travel to their destinations without taking individual permits. However, the ban on certain types and sizes of public vehicles from operating on specific roads because of road conditions remains in effect.
FNNTE also stated that passengers must obtain a ticket when travelling on public vehicles.
To ease traffic flow, the government decided to prohibit large vehicles such as trailers, except those transporting essential goods like food, from operating between Narayangadh and Kathmandu from today until Kojagrat Purnima, October 6.
