KATHMANDU: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has urged diplomatic missions based in Nepal to relax travel advisories issued by their governments for citizens planning to visit the country.
Speaking at a Meet and Greet with the Diplomatic Corps, organised in Kathmandu to mark Dashain, NTB Chief Executive Officer Deepak Raj Joshi said Nepal has returned to normalcy and is completely safe for tourists.
He noted that several embassies in Kathmandu had previously issued travel advisories cautioning citizens to follow safety measures after the Gen-Z protests held on September 8 and 9.
More than 15 ambassadors and representatives attended the event alongside senior Nepali government officials on the eve of World Tourism Day.
“There is no problem with political stability or security, and tourist police have resumed service. Roads, airports, transport services and hospitals have already restarted operations following the formation of the new government,” Joshi added. He urged all present to help project a positive image of Nepal’s tourism internationally.
Similarly, NTB Vice President Ram Prasad Sapkota said Nepal is ready to welcome tourists and asked the diplomatic community to convey to their governments that Nepal is open and safe.
