KATHMANDU: Global Compact Nepal (GCN), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), organised the third session of its Sustainable Finance Peer Learning Group (PLG) on Tuesday. The meeting was held at the headquarters of Himalayan Everest Insurance in Kathmandu.
The session, the third in a six‑part monthly series, is aimed at helping businesses integrate sustainability and climate considerations into their financial strategies. Discussions focused on the implications of the recently passed Carbon Regulations Act 2082 and on how the private sector can advance decarbonisation efforts and participate in carbon trading.
The event opened with remarks from Anisha Karn, treasurer of Global Compact Nepal, who underlined the importance of knowledge sharing and the role of sustainable and climate finance in empowering Nepal’s private sector. Amita Thapa Magar, in‑country facilitator for the NDC Partnership, presented on the Carbon Regulations Act 2082 and its implications for the private sector, emphasising how businesses can leverage the new law.
