KATHMANDU: The 11th Nepal Wood International Expo, and Nepal Interior & Furniture Expo, organised jointly by Media Space Solutions and Futurex Trade Fair and Events, commenced at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, on Friday.
The international exhibition, which features more than 100 stalls from domestic and international brands, showcases interiors, furniture, plywood, laminate, home textiles, hardware, woodworking machinery and tools, furnishings, mattresses, raw materials and related products.
The event was inaugurated on Friday by Rabindra Shakya, president of Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN); Thakur Bhandari, chairperson of Federation of Community Forestry Users Nepal (FECOFUN); Dinesh Raj Regmi, chairperson of Federation of Forest‑Based Industry and Trade, Nepal (FENFIT‑Nepal); Hom Prasad Ghimire, president of Nepal Plywood Manufacturers Association (NPMA); and Shyam Shrestha, president of Interior Designers Association of Nepal.
Organisers said the expo has, over the past 11 years, served as a milestone for the sector by providing information on wood‑related products and introducing new technologies to companies, dealers, sub‑dealers and retailers in the furniture, plywood and woodworking‑tool industries. They added that the high turnout of visitors immediately after the inauguration underlined the event’s role in bridging demand and supply in Nepal’s wood‑products, interior and exterior design, and machinery markets.
The exhibition includes significant participation from the interior, furniture, plywood, laminate, hardware, woodworking machinery and tools, furnishing, mattress and raw‑materials sectors. Organisers have introduced advanced products and technologies from world‑renowned companies to the Nepali market to help industries of all sizes upgrade machinery and improve efficiency.
As part of the expo, experts from the Interior Designers Association of Nepal had a plan to run a two‑day seminar and workshop on a range of topics. Prominent Nepali architects, engineers and interior designers are among those attending alongside members of the public and prospective homeowners.
The exhibition aims to make foreign‑proven technologies more readily available to Nepali manufacturers and to support the development and modernisation of Nepal’s wood, furniture and interior sectors. Visitors can attend the expo free of charge at the Bhrikutimandap exhibition hall until Sunday.
