KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Dr Madan Prasad Pariyar has said the government has aimed to increase production through modern agricultural practices. He argued this would also ensure better incomes for farmers.
Speaking during a half‑yearly review of ministry activities on Tuesday, Minister Pariyar said service centres will be expanded and strengthened to build the agriculture and livestock sector as the backbone of economic progress.
So far, the ministry has recorded 55% current expenditure and 12% capital expenditure. The minister directed staff to implement the budget as per the timeline.
"The time has come to realise tech- and climate-smart agriculture for agricultural entrepreneurship," Minister Pariyar said, adding that robust inter-agency cooperation and partnership are vital for effective mobilisation of resources.
