KATHMANDU: inDrive.Couriers said it saw a sharp rise in demand from small businesses during the Nepali New Year period in 2025, reporting a 200% increase in delivery orders compared with the same period previous year.

The company added that the number of active business users grew 2.6 times year-on-year, driven by small and medium-sized business partners such as local shops, online sellers and home-based businesses. Customers used the platform to send clothing, everyday essentials, food, spare parts and standard parcels.

According to inDrive’s internal data, couriers typically arrive at pick-up points within 5-6 minutes, order matching takes under 40 seconds, and the average delivery distance is about 6 km.

“Nepali New Year is a crucial period for small businesses, many of which see a significant share of their annual sales during this time. We are seeing more entrepreneurs rely on inDrive.Couriers to reach their customers quickly and on fair terms,” said Rita Pokharel, country representative, inDrive Nepal.

Kathmandu accounted for the largest share of the increased order volume, the company said, while other cities, including Pokhara and Bharatpur, also showed steady growth. inDrive said this pattern underlines its strengthening position in Nepal’s delivery market and its growing importance to both individual users and local entrepreneurs during peak seasonal periods.

inDrive.Couriers highlighted its flexible pricing model, which allows customers and couriers to agree directly on delivery fares, as a factor in its appeal to small businesses. The company said it will continue to support local entrepreneurs and expand access to delivery services across Nepal as seasonal demand grows year-on-year.
