KATHMANDU: The Himalayan Reserve has won a Bronze award at the Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition 2026, the company announced on Wednesday, adding to last year’s Gold from Monde Selection in Brussels.
According to a press release from Premier Distillery, the TWSC, one of Asia’s largest spirits competitions, uses blind tastings by a panel of Japanese experts. The Himalayan Reserve competed against established international distilleries and was recognised for its quality and craftsmanship.
The award is a milestone for Premier Distillery, the product’s parent company and one of Nepal’s most modern integrated liquor manufacturers. Premier Distillery also produces domestic brands, including Old Monk 7 Year Old Rum, Old Monk Legend Rum (under a franchise with Mohan Meakin), and Black Stallion.
The company said the Bronze medal demonstrates that spirits born in the Himalaya can compete on the global stage and that the result signals a 'new dawn' for domestic production, elevating the reputation of Nepali whisky to international standards.
The Himalayan Reserve’s back-to-back international awards underline growing global interest in spirits from non-traditional producing regions.
