KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell by 12.36 points on Thursday, closing at 2,742.11, while market turnover rose to Rs 3,898,418,385.27.
Trading volume reached 8,955,545 shares across 348 companies. On Wednesday, when the index had risen by 30.08 points, shares worth Rs 3,820,896,966.85 were traded.
Price movements were skewed towards declines: 72 companies recorded gains, 188 saw their share prices fall and nine remained unchanged.
All sectoral subindices slipped by less than 1%. The Banking Subindex fell 0.57%, the Development Bank Index 0.31%, the Finance Index 0.21%, Hotels and Tourism 0.86%, Hydropower 0.68%, Investment 0.33%, Life Insurance 0.10%, Manufacturing and Processing 0.36%, Microfinance 0.45%, Non Life Insurance 0.42% and other sectors 0.31%. The trading group was stable, while the Mutual Fund subindex rose 0.14%.
Among individual stocks, Bungal Hydro (BUNGAL) posted the largest gain, up 9.26%, while Upper Lohore Khola Hydropower Company (ULHC) recorded the steepest decline, falling 14.95%.
