KATHMANDU: The Foundation for the Future (FFTF), in partnership with Lalitpur Metropolitan City, ran a six-day training programme to give secondary-level students practical skills in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital content creation. The course was delivered in two phases from May 12-14 and May 19-21, 2026.

Forty-eight students who had completed grades 10 to 12 took part in the programme. Training was led by AI/ML engineer and digital literacy trainer Atul Srivastava and software engineer Jagat Jyoti Tuladhar, together with representatives from FFTF.

Participants received hands-on exposure to contemporary AI platforms and creative tools, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, NotebookLM, Gamma, Canva AI, HeyGen, ElevenLabs, Suno, Google AI Studio and Perplexity AI. The curriculum covered AI literacy, prompt engineering, digital storytelling, multimedia content production, awareness of misinformation and deepfakes, ethical AI practices, digital safety and responsible online behaviour.

Students took part in collaborative AI-assisted storytelling and presentation exercises focused on Lalitpur’s local culture, heritage and communities. FFTF said these activities helped to strengthen creativity, teamwork, communication, research and problem-solving skills. Interactive workshops and demonstrations highlighted both the opportunities and the limitations of modern AI systems.

FFTF introduced participants to Nepal’s cyber laws, privacy protection and digital ethics, and emphasised the importance of fact verification in an era of rapidly evolving AI technologies.

FFTF said that before the training, many attendees had only a basic understanding of AI and limited experience with tools beyond popular social platforms, and that awareness of misinformation, ethical use of technology and prompt engineering was relatively low among the group.

By the end of the programme, students showed marked improvement in confidence and practical digital skills and expressed enthusiasm for continuing to explore AI and content creation.

The programme concluded with closing reflections, appreciation remarks and group photographs. Participants, trainers and organisers expressed commitment to continuing efforts to expand AI literacy and responsible digital learning among students in Lalitpur Metropolitan City.
