KATHMANDU: WorldLink Communications organised a tree plantation programme at Manjushree Park on Friday as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative to mark World Environment Day.

The event was held in collaboration with students from the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus, the Jal Binayak Community Forest User Group and the Pragatishil Yuba Samuha. Local residents, youth, students, community forest representatives and WorldLink employees took part in the CSR programme.

WorldLink Communications planted juniper and various fruit saplings across the Manjushree Park premises. The activity aimed to enhance greenery, support environmental conservation and help reduce the impacts of climate change at the community level.

Anupa Bhandari Jalan, WorldLink’s CSR director and promoter-shareholder, said the plantation will add to the beauty and environmental health of the community forest and Manjushree Park. “We carried out the tree plantation at this site after identifying the needs of the community forest and the local people,” she said, adding that WorldLink has been working on tree planting and conservation in the country’s religious and historical areas for several years.

The CSR director emphasised that environmental protection is an ongoing responsibility linked to lifestyle, social duty and the future. “Collaboration among the private sector, local communities, and youth is highly necessary for sustainable development and creating a clean environment,” she said. She added that WorldLink will continue similar social and environmental campaigns, believing collective efforts can build a green, clean and sustainable future.

Dipak Maharjan, chair of the Jal Binayak Community Forest User Group, said such programmes play a key role in conserving forests, promoting biodiversity and raising environmental awareness in communities. “This programme is an example of collaboration between community forests and corporate social responsibility,” he said.

WorldLink’s CSR activities also include distribution of educational materials and warm clothing to schools, mental health awareness programmes, online education in remote areas, installation of solar energy in health institutions, public awareness on safe internet use and initiatives to enhance the digital skills of youth.
