PM Shah meets private sector reps to discuss industry, economic reforms

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah held a meeting with representatives of private sector at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Wednesday to discuss industry, the investment environment and economic reforms.

The discussions focused on measures to revitalise economic activity, simplify industrial and business operations, create an investment‑friendly climate, remove policy and procedural obstacles, boost private sector morale, generate jobs and increase production.

PM Shah said the private sector is an important partner in the country’s economic development, investment expansion, employment creation and production growth, and that the government is ready to resolve practical problems faced by industrialists and entrepreneurs.

He pledged to prioritise necessary policy, legal and administrative reforms to build an industry‑ and private sector‑friendly environment and said facilitation and reform measures will be advanced through the relevant bodies.

Private sector representatives urged promotion of industry and business, expansion of investment, policy stability, simplification of service delivery and the need for regular, result‑oriented dialogue between government and business.

Attending the meeting were Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Anjan Shrestha, FNCCI's Industry Committee Chairperson Ujjawal Kumar Shrestha, Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) Immediate Past President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, CNI Director General Ghanashyam Ojha, Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal and NCC Senior Vice President Deepak Kumar Malhotra, the PM’s Secretariat said.

Also present were Chief Advisor Kumar Byanjankar, ICT Advisor Bibek Mishra, Chief Personal Secretary Subas Sharma and House of Representatives (HoR) member Vidushi Rana.

The Secretariat said the high‑level discussion with heads and office‑bearers of private organisations is expected to help formulate private sector‑friendly policies, promote industry and business, improve the investment environment and strengthen cooperation between government and the private sector.
