KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane said action will be taken against those who blocked the entrances to some media houses in Kathmandu.

On Monday, vehicles with private number plates were found parked in front of the entrances to several media houses and the residence of Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa. Police later removed the vehicles and fined the owners for traffic violations, the police said.

Responding to questions from journalists at Singha Durbar on Tuesday, Lamichhane said the party would take action against those responsible. The RSP issued a statement on Monday expressing support for press freedom and calling for action against those who obstructed media houses.

“The RSP was the first to issue a statement protesting this incident and calling for action against the culprits. The RSP has a history of taking action against its MPs within 72 hours. Therefore, action will be taken against anyone, even if an RSP cadre is involved,” Lamichhane said.

Asked about his recent meeting with Prime Minister Balendra Shah, Lamichhane said they discussed sustainable and speedy solutions to the squatters’ problem, various contemporary and developing situations, national politics and party-related issues.
