KATHMANDU: The Industry, Commerce, Labour and Consumer Welfare Committee of the House of Representatives has instructed the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies to curb black marketing and artificial shortages of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

During a meeting at Singha Durbar today, committee chair Rahabar Ansari directed the ministry to provide details, after conducting a study and research into the feasibility and impact of pipeline expansion for the long‑term management of a reliable supply of cooking gas, to the committee within a week.

He further called for strengthened market inspection by conducting regular monitoring through the Nepal LP Gas Industry Association, Nepal Oil Corporation and the ministry to minimise possible risks to consumers from using old gas cylinders.
