KATHMANDU: A landslide at Krishnabhir in Dhading has blocked the Prithvi Highway after the Trishuli River completely eroded a section of the road, causing it to cave in, officials said on Sunday.
The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office reported the collapse and said traffic on the route has been completely halted. Vehicles bound for or from the capital have been stopped in Kathmandu following the obstruction, the office added.
Pankaj Malla, general manager of Lhotse Multipurpose Park, which manages the New Bus Park in Kathmandu, said buses using the Prithvi Highway were instructed to remain stationary at the New Bus Park.
Recent flooding has also disrupted traffic on major roads in several districts, including Rasuwa.
Police urged travellers not to start journeys until they have been informed about current road conditions.
