IME Group pledges Rs 100m to Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund for Bhotekoshi River flood relief

KATHMANDU: IME Group on Saturday announced a financial support package worth Rs 100 million to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund to assist search, rescue, immediate relief and rehabilitation operations following devastating flooding along Bhotekoshi River.

The support will be provided through IME Group and its promoted companies, including Global IME Bank, IME, IME Life Insurance, IGI Prudential Insurance, Chandragiri Hills, DishHome, IME Motors, partner company Ashok Leyland, IME Khalti, Swift Technology, Midas Health, MyMart, Lumbini Cable Car and the IME Foundation, among other entities.

In addition to corporate contributions, staff members across all companies under the group will donate one day's salary to the relief effort. IME has also waived remittance fees for individuals sending relief funds to Nepal from abroad, while arrangements have been made to deposit funds directly into the government relief fund free of charge via the Khalti by IME mobile wallet. The group added that further relief materials and in‑kind goods will be provided in coordination with the IME Foundation.

IME Group stated that the contribution forms part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives to assist in searching for missing persons, providing medical treatment to the injured, supplying food to affected residents and rebuilding damaged infrastructure.

The conglomerate extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the flood and sympathies to the bereaved. It also expressed gratitude to security personnel, volunteers, local communities and relevant authorities working on rescue and relief operations.

The group noted that it has previously provided financial, physical and humanitarian aid during natural disasters and health emergencies across the country, including floods, landslides, inundation and earthquakes.
