HETAUDA: District authorities in Makawanpur have introduced separate one-way routes on the Hetauda–Kathmandu road after an obstruction on the Prithvi Highway at Krishnabhir, to manage heavy traffic.

The revised traffic plan splits light vehicles carrying fewer than 14 passengers into two routes: drivers travelling from Hetauda to Kathmandu must use the Bhimphedi–Dakshinkali route via Kulekhani; those travelling from Kathmandu to Hetauda must use the Pharping–Bhimphedi route via Phakhel and Kulekhani.

Santosh Subedi, an officer at the District Administration Office, Makawanpur, said that trucks and buses heading to Kathmandu must use the Tribhuvan Highway, while heavy vehicles coming from Kathmandu to Hetauda must use the Kanti Highway.

Authorities expect the new system to reduce traffic congestion along the Hetauda–Kathmandu corridor.
