Myagdi DAO tightens rules on monetary aid for Bhotekoshi flood survivors

MYAGDI: District Administration Office (DAO), Myagdi has tightened rules on the collection of monetary aid for survivors of Bhotekoshi flash flood, announcing that cash donations will only be accepted into a government account.

An all-stakeholders meeting at the DAO on Monday resolved that financial assistance must be deposited into the authorised government account. Political parties, security agencies and other representatives at the meeting agreed to use the account and the QR code the government has made public.

Assistant Chief District Officer Kul Prasad Acharya urged the public not to deposit money for flood relief except via the government account or QR code. The meeting also decided to compile a checklist of humanitarian items before accepting in-kind donations, and to manage both monetary and material relief to prevent misuse, Acharya said.

The district reported two people remain missing following the flood, while three others who had been out of contact have reconnected with their families.

Those still unaccounted for are Bhupendra Regmi, 25, of Malika Rural Municipality-4, and Parbin Purja of Khoriya in Dhawalagiri Municipality-2.

Those who have made contact are Tirtha BK of Kirchaur in Mangala Rural Municipality-5, and Tika Bahadur Purja and Pradip Purja of Khoriya in Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-2. All were working at Trisuli A Hydropower Project in Rasuwa.
