Nepal receives 85,444 foreign tourists in August: NTB

KATHMANDU: Nepal received 85,444 foreign tourists in August 2026, according to Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

The figure was 3,236 fewer than in August 2025, when 88,680 visitors arrived.

Visitors from India made up the largest share, with 26,373 arrivals, equivalent to 30.87% of the total. China supplied 10,304 tourists, Sri Lanka 8,710, the United States 6,293, Bangladesh 4,487 and the United Kingdom 3,476.

By region, South Asia accounted for the greatest number of visitors at 41,422, while other Asian countries contributed 18,275. Europe sent 10,875 tourists, the Americas 7,473, Oceania 2,529, the Middle East 1,100 and Africa 338.
