Lagani News Editor Gyawali to receive Dr Harihar Dev Pant Economic Journalism Award 2083

KATHMANDU: Ashish Gyawali, editor of Laganinews.com, will receive the Dr Harihar Dev Pant Economic Journalism Award 2083 this year, Dr Harihar Dev Pant Foundation announced. 

The presentation will coincide with Dr Pant’s 11th annual memorial day and includes a cash prize of Rs 100,000 and a certificate of honour.

The foundation established the award in memory of the late Dr Harihar Dev Pant, widely regarded as the father of microfinance in Nepal, and has been presenting it since 2074 BS.

Gyawali was chosen from among journalists and organisations that publish and broadcast economic news; he has been writing in the economic sector for over 20 years.

The award recognises newspapers, radio stations, television stations, online news portals and individual journalists who have made significant contributions to the country’s economic development through journalism.

Previous recipients include the Society of Economic Journalists-Nepal (SEJON), Gokarna Awasthi, Bishnu Belbase, Eliza Upreti, Mamata Thapa, Bijay Raj Khanal, Yagya Banjade, Krishna Rijal and Yadav Humagai.

The award will be presented to Gyawali on Sunday, September 6.
