BIRATNAGAR: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal has urged the government to declare an Investment Decade to boost investment and enact an integrated investment law.
Speaking at the inauguration of Koshi Province Investment Summit 2025, organised for the first time by Koshi Province Government in Biratnagar on Thursday, Dhakal stressed that investment-related laws—including those on forest, environment, and land—should be unified to eliminate conflicting interpretations. He called for policy stability, urging all political parties to maintain consistency for at least the next 10 years.
Dhakal highlighted investment facilitation as a priority in the upcoming budget and monetary policy, proposing business registration via the Nagarik app, automatic renewal based on tax payment, and online submission of documents for foreign investors to end the practice of carrying physical files. He also suggested integrating the Investment Board Nepal (IBN), the Department of Industry, and other relevant agencies into a single investment facilitation body.
He urged Koshi Province to leverage its potential in tourism, agriculture, industry, energy, and infrastructure by providing investors with clear assurances on project feasibility and government support. He mentioned that the FNCCI-led establishment of a public limited company with Rs 10 billion in capital will address infrastructure investment shortages.
He welcomed the government's formation of the Good Governance Commission following FNCCI's annual general meeting and reaffirmed the private sector's commitment to governance reforms.
