KATHMANDU: Krish Yadav, a 17-year-old content creator from Dhanusha district, has been awarded the “Golchha Group presents Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2025” title at a ceremony organised by Glocal on Monday at The Plaza in Lalitpur.

Established 10 years ago, the Glocal Teen Hero initiative recognises teenagers who excel beyond academics, providing a platform to showcase their extraordinary talents. The programme celebrates adolescents’ initiative, creativity and enthusiasm, empowering them to catalyse positive change at the intersection of global and local domains.

Yadav emerged victorious from a shortlist of six finalists: Manushi Neupane (17), an SRHR advocate from Syangja; Nischal Dhungana (19), a climate justice advocate from Kapilvastu; Oxford Acharya (15), a policy advocate from Jumla; Renuka Singh (18), an agro-preneur from Sarlahi; and Safal Poudel (18), an AI developer from Rupandehi.

Yadav combines social curiosity with storytelling and leadership. With a foundation in the social sciences, he has led creative teams, hosted public debates and produced documentaries on national issues. He has represented Nepal on international platforms and collaborated with local governments on policy-focused initiatives.

He hosts and produces TNC Debates, a reality-debate show on the YouTube channel TNC Unscripted, where he also co-leads creative direction for four original series that reach more than 15,500 subscribers. As Associate Creative Head at The Nepali Comment (405,000+ subscribers), he crafts socio-political and historical documentaries to engage the public with complex topics.

As National Programme Coordinator for the Himalayan Linguistics Olympiad Nepal, Yadav helps to organise national competitions in linguistics and AI, promoting problem-solving among young people. Through Project Bibek, he surveyed over 480 students in the Kathmandu Valley to assess views on the education system and is now developing an academic paper under a sociologist’s mentorship. He also co-founded Project Stitch, an ethnic brand designing modern utility bags from ethically sourced indigenous fabrics.

His work on TNC Debates has generated more than 170,000 views, fostering democratic dialogue with real-life student election candidates. Through TNC Unscripted (2 million+ views), he co-led live town halls and immersive documentaries now used in classrooms and public forums. At The Nepali Comment (6.5 million+ views), his long-form explainers inform both educational and policy discussions. As Lead Organiser of the Himalayan Linguistics Olympiad, he grew outreach by 220 per cent and broadened youth education beyond textbooks. His Project Bibek findings are informing youth-centric education policy, and his exploratory work in places such as Jiri highlights overlooked economic challenges.

Before the final round, the six finalists attended self-competency workshops on various topics and networked with industry leaders and corporate representatives. A jury comprising Chandrika Kalia, Country Director of Coca-Cola Nepal; Dr Ghana Shyam Gurung, Country Director of WWF Nepal; Seema Golchha, Director of Golchha Group; Suraj Vaidya, President of VOITH; and Thomas Miller, Chargé d’affaires of the European Union to Nepal, assessed applicants on creativity, achievement, impact and the sustainability of their work.

Glocal organised the award with Golchha Group as title partner, supported by strategic partnerships from the European Union, the Embassy of India in Kathmandu and Plan International, alongside Embark College as educational partner. Further partners include Honda, Coca-Cola, WWF, Panchakanya Group, KFC, Toyota and Real, with banking support from Global IME Bank, Nabil Bank and Nepal SBI Bank Ltd. The Nepal Tourism Board is the official hospitality partner; Worldlink is the internet partner; The Kathmandu Post and Kantipur App are media partners; Himalaya TV HD is the live broadcast partner; and Yeti Airlines is the airline partner. Prisma Advertising serves as PR partner, NNQ? (No Next Question) as outreach partner, while Nutriplus, Pizza Hut, Begani Group, Nepal Life Insurance and Sanima Reliance Life Insurance also support the initiative.

Since its inception, the Glocal Teen Hero award has become a nationwide beacon, inspiring young leaders to reimagine youth engagement and drive social impact. As this year’s ceremony demonstrates, the initiative remains dedicated to nurturing future heroes who will shape a better tomorrow.
