KATHMANDU: South Korea’s Ambassador to Nepal, Park Tae‑young, paid a courtesy call on Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal today.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Finance (MoF), Finance Minister Khanal discussed the bilateral diplomatic relationship between Korea and Nepal and expressed gratitude for the continuous cooperation provided by the Korean government.

Mentioning that the status of projects and programmes operating with Korea’s support is satisfactory, Finance Minister Khanal said the economic partnership with Korea will continue.

On the occasion, the ambassador recalled that the bilateral relationship between the Korean government agency KOICA and the Government of Nepal has reached 30 years and expressed hope for further coordination and cooperation in the coming days.

He said necessary facilitation will be provided to encourage Korean investors to invest in Nepal and to promote Nepali products. He also said the Korean government will establish a separate visa centre to make it easier to recruit Nepali workers for employment in Korea.

The finance minister’s secretariat said that to promote the entrepreneurship of Nepali citizens who have returned after working in Korea under the Employment Permit System (EPS), a process has been advanced to provide concessional loans for starting new businesses through the Agricultural Development Bank with KOICA’s support, and requested the finance minister to provide the necessary facilitation.
