KATHMANDU: Ncell Foundation has announced that it will distribute 2,428 educational kits to students in government and community-run schools across Nepal, fulfilling a pledge made during the Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2.

The distribution is part of Ncell’s 4s for 4 social initiative, under which the company pledged to provide four educational kits for every four hits during the tournament. Launched last year, the initiative links cricket boundaries with classroom support, aiming to turn on-field fours into learning resources for underserved communities.

During NPL Season 2, players hit a total of 607 boundaries by 99 players, triggering the donation of 2,428 kits. Adam Rossington of Pokhara Avengers hit the most fours, 31, securing 124 kits for students. D’Arcy Short of Lumbini Lions hit 26 fours, earning 104 kits, while Binod Bhandari of Sudurpaschim Royals contributed 23 fours, resulting in 92 kits.

Each educational kit will include a schoolbag, notebooks, pencils, sharpeners, erasers and other basic stationery to help address shortages of essential learning materials.

“We would like to extend our heartiest congratulations and gratitude to all the players who contributed to this meaningful social initiative. Their performances not only strengthened their teams on the field but also expanded support for education beyond the boundary lines,” said Bishakha Laxmi Khadka, Corporate Communications and Sustainability Director at Ncell. “Like last year, we will be distributing these educational kits in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure they reach students from the government schools who need them the most.”

Ncell was the ‘Powered By’ partner of NPL this year and offered a cash prize of Rs 25,000 to the player hitting the most fours in each match. Adam Rossington received an additional Rs 200,000 for recording the highest number of fours across the season.

In NPL’s first season last year, Ncell Foundation pledged 2,612 educational kits from 653 boundaries. More than 9,000 educational kits have been distributed nationwide to date, including those from the 4s for 4 initiative.

The upcoming distribution will be carried out in coordination with the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), local authorities and implementing partner Karmayog Foundation to ensure the kits reach their intended beneficiaries. Through the scheme, Ncell Foundation says it aims to make every four a step towards a more educated Nepal.
