KATHMANDU: inDrive ran a three-day street activation, 'Rate Milaaun, Momo Khaaun', across four busy spots in Kathmandu this week. It drew about 2,400 people and placed the app’s fare-negotiation feature at the centre of a local cultural experience.

The campaign, aimed at urban youth and daily commuters, let participants experience inDrive’s core function — passengers proposing fares and drivers accepting, declining, or making counteroffers — through a series of bargaining-themed games and challenges.

Branded momo stalls were set up at Bagbazar, Janabahal, Pimbahal and Thamel, where visitors spun wheels, took part in negotiation challenges, and won free momo and inDrive merchandise for successful participation.

Meanwhile, inDrive said the activation sought to connect a familiar Kathmandu habit — haggling in markets and on the street — with the app’s model of transparent, user-driven pricing. The event also generated organic social media attention among students and young commuters, inDrive added.

“Kathmandu has always had a strong culture of bargaining — whether in local markets, neighbourhood shops, or everyday transportation. Through ‘Rate Milaaun, Momo Khaaun’, we wanted to celebrate that familiar behaviour in a fun and engaging way while helping people better understand how inDrive works,” said Rita Pokharel, Country Representative, inDrive Nepal. “The response we received across all four locations was incredibly encouraging. It showed us that young commuters in Kathmandu strongly connect with the idea of having more choice and flexibility in their daily travel experience, while also ensuring that the drivers have a fair opportunity to decide which fares work best for them.”

inDrive said the activation reinforced its emphasis on fairness, freedom of choice and transparent pricing, and served as a community engagement exercise tailored to local customs.

inDrive is a global mobility and delivery platform operating in more than 1,100 cities across 48 countries. The inDrive app has been downloaded over 400 million times and offers services beyond ride-hailing, including intercity transport, delivery and financial services.
